What stings more than the pain of betrayal is the revelation of neglect
Can you still feel when you can no longer heal
Or do the calluses keep you cozy in your cold
Bleeding, you lie there
Wondering if tomorrow she will be better
If tomorrow she will be more kind
Pleasant the sound of rain
The darkness giving you a place to hide away
But when the sun comes out you will have to return
Will the rays warm you
Will you hear the birds song
Did you see it when it was dark
Who plundered your heart so
Who stole your tickle
The freeze was too bitter
It’s frost was there too long
Hope can revive a nasty bout
Refreshing and kissing the inside out
Forgiveness and peace
Brings Heavens sweet release
You will remember the ache, the sour taste
You will even hesitate at a lovers embrace
Because deep down you’ll know the violent toll
The terror you felt when the thief approached
Be still friend, there are ever more for you
There is no victory when there has been no war
Though it’s bleeding, a heart still grows
